Oldboy Remake With Will Smith

According to Variety, Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are in early talks to a potential collaboration in remaking the Korean cult movie Oldboy. At this stage, there is still no writer attached to this yet.

For those who haven't seen the movie, here is what it is about

A man who gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he's released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge. (Variety)

I have seen this movie and I have to say that it is not for the faint of heart. Quite frankly, I don't see Will Smith doing this movie unless the script is seriously watered down. Otherwise, he might hurt his squeaky clean image a bit for some viewers. Personally, I just don't think it is for him. I would see Brad Pitt as a better fit.
