WALL-E

Synopsis:After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, Wall-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve. Eve comes to realize that Wall-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, Wall-E chases Eve across the galaxy.

Cast: Fred Willard, John Ratzenberger, Kathy Najimy, Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Garlin

Recommendations: It was a cute movie that is worth watching again.

Tropic Thunder

Synopsis:A group of self-absorbed actors set out to make the most expensive war film. But after ballooning costs force the studio to cancel the movie, the frustrated director refuses to stop shooting, leading his cast into the jungles of Southeast Asia, where they encounter real bad guys.

Cast: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Jay Baruchel, Nick Nolte

Recommendations: Funniest comedy of the year, especially the parts with Tom Cruise.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

Synopsis:Lifelong friends embark on separate paths for their first year of college and the summer beyond, but remain in touch by sharing their experiences with each other as they always have--with honesty and humor. Discovering their individual strengths, fears, talents and capacity for love through the choices they make, they come to value more than ever the bond they share and the immeasurable power of their friendship.

Cast: America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, Jesse Williams

Recommendations:If you like the first movie, this is worth putting on your Netflix queue.

Priceless

Synopsis:In the south of France, Jean, a shy young bartender, is mistaken for a millionaire by a beautiful, scheming opportunist named Irene. When Irene discovers his true identity, she abandons him, only to find that a love-struck Jean has no intention of letting her get away. Jean's comical attempts to gain her affections gradually evolve into setting himself up as a gigolo at a luxury hotel, until Irene finally starts to warm to her persistent, persuasive suitor

Cast: Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh, Vernon Dobtcheff, Marie-Christine Adam, Jacques Spiesser

Recommendations: Audrey Tautou is an amazing actress and can make any movie look good. It is worth a look.

Catch up On Movie Reviews in 10 Minutes

My friend over a Tapeworthy wrote one of the best movie reviews I have ever read. Since he saw a lot of movies and just didn't have time to write a long review about each of them, he decided to do a quick movie review using the game Shag, Marry or Kill (inspired by the British TV show Gavin & Stacey, which you must check out if you haven't yet).

Here is a sample of my favorites:

Vicky Christina Barcelona
Grade: A-

Shag: Javier Bardem. Totally sexy and a complete 180 from the scary bob in No Country For Old Men)
Marry: Penelope Cruz. Always amazing when she's back doing roles in her native Spanish language)
Kill: Scarlett Johannson. And mainly because she went off and married Ryan Reynolds so bitch has got to die for taking my man. (Usually I love Scarlett though)

 

 

Tropic Thunder
Grade: B-

Shag: Robert Downey Jr. I'd marry him but there's the whole potential drug problem/issues.
Marry: Jack Black. Well, I figure he'd make me laugh at least.
Kill: Ben Stiller. Still can't stand the guy.

Check out some promo pictures from TROPIC THUNDER aka the movie I am dying to see this month that Film School Rejects posted.

I was actually just watching some of the viral marketing they have done for the film, like the E! True Hollywood story, so funny. I think the character I love the best is Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), the movie is probably worth watching if only for him.

Thoughts: Wow, this trailer is so much better than the first one. After seeing this one, I am so excited to see the movie. It looks freaking hilarious and Robert Downey Jr., that man is unstoppable.

TROPIC THUNDER - MTV Movie Awards Video

I've been meaning to post this funny viral video from the MTV Movie Awards. It looks like they are really pushing TROPIC THUNDER, first it was on the American Idol finale, and now this. Not that I'm complaining, I think Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. are a really funny team.

I won't say much about the clip below, but trust me it's worth watching. Plus it looks like the viral marketing is working because now I really want to see the movie.

Tropic Thunder comes out to theaters on August 12, 2008.
