Movies Coming Out This Week December 12 2008
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday December 12 2008? Here is a list with our recommendations (which you can take or leave, it's up to you).

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES

I have already purchased my tickets and can't wait to see Keanu Reeves as Klaatu in this Hollywood blockbuster remake.
Synopsis::Aliens land on Earth with a message for all humans: live in peace or be destroyed.

I am not a huge fan of Clint Eastwood but I always give him the benefit of the doubt as he tends to do smart films, hence I intend to watch this at the movies.
Synopsis::Walt Kowalski is a widower, grumpy, tough-minded, borderline-hateful, unhappy old man who can't get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1973 Gran Torino he keeps in cherry condition. When his neighbor Tao, a young Hmong teenager, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Tao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them form the gangs that foul their neighborhood.
HELL WILL FREEZE FIRST

I went to see Four Christmases against my will so I think I fulfilled my quota for dumb christmas movies for the year 2008.
Synopsis::It's Christmas time and the far-flung members of the Rodriguez family are converging at their parents' home in Chicago to celebrate the season and rejoice in their youngest brother's safe return from combat overseas. For Jesse, coming home has rekindled feelings for an old flame, although she can't seem to forgive him for leaving. His older sister Roxanna, a struggling actress, has been chasing her Hollywood dreams for years with little to show for it. And much to the dismay of their mother Anna, eldest brother Mauricio brings home a high-powered executive wife who would rather raise capital than a child. In the course of one eventful week, traditions will be celebrated, secrets revealed and major life decisions made. It all begins when Anna announces to her children she is divorcing their father Eduardo. The shock waves from this familial upheaval prompt Roxanna, Mauricio and Jesse, each in their own way, to reevaluate the past and rethink the future. But when the Rodriguezes learn that one of their own is facing a true crisis, they instinctively pull together: Old resentments are forgotten, familial bonds are re-affirmed and the healing power of laughter works its magic as the family discovers they are much stronger than they ever realized.

Twilight is the #1 Christmas Movie of 2008 because...do I even need to say it? Didn't you hear all those screaming fans over at Comic Con during the Twilight panel? And even if I wasn't screaming, I am as excited about the movie. Plus I am a big fan of Catherine Hardwicke's films. I just love her style of filmmaking. Her previous films include Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown. And don't even get me into how good the book is. Twilight is definitely #1 this Christmas. |

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL News Comic Con 2008
Today, I attended a Comic Con Panel for the new Keanu Reeves movie THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. We had the opportunity to see some cool clips and learn some interesting news:
- Keanu Reeves was thought for this part 15 years ago while he was still making Speed.
- Interrogation scene: Keanu Reeves’ character Klatu demonstrates his powers by disarming his captors and taking control of the facility. That scene was mad cool.
- Keanu Reeves thinks his character objectifies everything.
- SPOILER ALERT: Keanu Reeves’s character Klatu first comes out of the ship in a different form.
- The Ship Klatu’s coming with will have an “organic” nature according to the director.
- Pickup Scene: Keanu Reeves and Jayden Smith (son of Will Smith) talk.
- Final Trailer: Only one thing can describe this new trailer for the movie. OMFG. It is just great.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (2008) - Movie Trailer

Title: THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
Director: Scott Derrickson
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, John Cleese, Jaden Smith, Jon Hamm, and Aaron Douglas
Plot: A remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth. (Source: imdb.com)
Release Date: 12 December 2008
Thoughts: It stars Keanu Reeves, do I really need to say more? That pretty much guarantees my ticket. Oh and the fact that the trailer looks really good, doesn't hurt either. This is a remake of the 1952 original movie of the same name, but I haven't actually seen it so I have no expectations whatsoever.
