TERMINATOR SALVATION Review

Apologies for the late Terminator Salvation review but I had to take a few days to digest the movie before writing something about it.
When Terminator Salvation ended, I thought of my son. Not my actual son since I don't have any kids but my future son. I was thinking about the day he would ask me the question that every father dreads to hear: "What is your favorite movie?"
Now, this is an important question, folks. The answer you give will stay with your child for the rest of their lives. So it is crucial that you have an answer prepared for the occasion.
My answer will be: "Not Terminator Salvation!"
I had such high expectations for this movie.
It had everything going for it. Great cast, wicked special effects and built up fan anticipation. All the ingredients to make a blockbuster hit. Now if only someone on that movie thought of writing a decent script and crafting some interesting dialogue, we would have been in business.
Instead, we got a ridiculously flat, boring story that was soooo predictable that I could have walked out during the movie and come back 45 minutes later without missing anything interesting.
While the special effects were pretty cool, there was nothing particularly memorable about it. Seriously, even the machines were pretty lame. Also while the cast was of great caliber, they really didn't have that many great lines to work with.
Although, I have to give props to Sam Worthington (Marcus Wright) for stealing the movie from Christian Bale. No wonder Bale lost it on the set. I too would be pissed off if I was being out-shined by someone who's coming out of nowhere. (Cheer up, Christian. There is always the Dark Knight)
All and all, Terminator Salvation was a fail for me. Instead of calling it Terminator Salvation, they should have called it Terminator Funeral because it really buried any desire that anyone would have of seeing another Terminator movie.
Sorry, son. Ask me again after Iron Man 2. I hear it's going to be a great movie.

TERMINATOR SALVATION Poster
Since I was just talking of TERMINATOR SALVATION, it's the perfect time to take a look at its latest poster. Pretty freaky, right?
I personally want to see one with John Connor, maybe something like where is he carry a shotgun (or something like that) pointed at the ground, his face down, sort of a silhouette thing of him looking at the post-judgment day world. Now that would be cool.
So I'm curious to see what the marketing has in store for us next.
What do you think of the poster for Terminator Salvation? Yea or nay?
Helena Bonham Carter joins TERMINATOR SALVATION
According to Sci Fi, Helena Bonham Carter has joined the cast of TERMINATOR SALVATION, and should come as no surprise that she will be playing an evil character.
"I kind of play a baddie, definitely a baddie," Bonham Carter said in an interview while promoting her new film, the comedy-drama Sixty Six. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm a very bad person."
All I can say is I'm going to get a quick out of this casting. Helena Bonham Carter can create such amazing characters, it will be interesting to see what she does in a post-judgment day world.
Terminator Salvation will be released on May 22, 2009.
What do you think of that new casting news? Do you think Helena Bonham Carter is a good casting choice for Terminator Salvation?
