Defiance
Synopsis: Based on an extraordinary true story, "Defiance" is an epic tale of family, honor, vengeance and salvation in World War II. The year is 1941 and the Jews of Eastern Europe are being massacred by the thousands. Managing to escape certain death, three brothers take refuge in the dense surrounding woods they have known since childhood. There they begin their desperate battle against the Nazis. Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell star as brothers who turn a primitive struggle to survive into something far more consequential – a way to avenge the deaths of their loved ones by saving thousands of others.
At first it is all they can do to stay alive. But gradually, as whispers of their daring spreads, they begin to attract others – men and women, young and old – willing to risk everything for the sake of even a moment's freedom. Tuvia (Craig) is a reluctant leader and his decisions are challenged by his brother, Zus (Schreiber) who worries that Tuvia's idealistic plans will doom them all. Asael (Bell) is the youngest – caught between his brothers' fierce rivalry. As a brutal winter descends, they work to create a community, and to keep faith alive when all humanity appeared to be lost.

Recommendations: I am ashamed to say that I haven't seen Defiance yet, even though I've wanted to for a long time. I also heard some good things about it. It looks like such a powerful story, that I think you guys might enjoy it.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in REVOLUTIONARY ROAD Movie Trailer
The trailer for Sam Mendes' new movie, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio has finally been released.
Based on on the book of the same name by Richard Yates Revolutionary Road is about a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s struggling to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children.
This is one of the few movies that I was really looking forward to checking out the trailer for, and it didn't disappoint. It looks like an intense, character study movie, and I love those. Although, it seems like an odd choice for a Christmas time release (not very cheery is it?!).
I do have to mention that I wish Leonardo DiCaprio had a "Departed" goatee, it makes him look older and manlier. In the trailer he looks so young, even younger than Kate Winslet, which makes it hard to believe they are married.
Other than that, I am really looking forward to this movie. And of course let's not forget that it is #6 on our Top 20 Christmas Movies for 2008.
Revolutionary Road comes out to theaters right in time for Christmas on December 26, 2008.

We promised ourselves that we would put some order out there and give everyone a list of all the great movies coming out this Christmas season 2008. We also decided to include movies starting in November because for us, Christmas always start a little early. So while you are out buying gifts or gift cards for your loved ones this Christmas, make sure you keep an eye out for these these movies. So without further ado, here are the Top 20 Christmas Movies we are most excited about in 2008.

Twilight is the #1 Christmas Movie of 2008 because...do I even need to say it? Didn't you hear all those screaming fans over at Comic Con during the Twilight panel? And even if I wasn't screaming, I am as excited about the movie. Plus I am a big fan of Catherine Hardwicke's films. I just love her style of filmmaking. Her previous films include Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown. And don't even get me into how good the book is. Twilight is definitely #1 this Christmas. |

First Look: REVOLUTIONARY ROAD - Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet Picture
I came upon this picture (on Yahoo! Movies) of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in their upcoming movie, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD.
The movie is based on the book of the same name by Richard Yates. I haven't actually read the book, but I have read a few people mention how great of a book it is. It's always a delicate process to transform great books into movies, because there are always going to be people who don't like it. I personally am just looking forward to seeing Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in a movie together again, and to top it off Revolutionary Road is directed by Sam Mendes. This pretty much means that I don't need a trailer to know that I'll see it, but I am looking forward to the trailer anyway.
Revolutionary Road will be released on December 26, 2008.
