New DVD Releases for the Week of July 7 2009
Here is a list of the new DVD Releases for the week of July 7 2009 (for TV on DVD releases head over to Daemon's TV):

Knowing
Synopsis: In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one of the students, a mysterious girl who seems to hear whispered voices, fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.
Fast forward 50 years to the present: A new generation of students examines the contents of the time capsule and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Myles. But it is Caleb's father, professor Ted Myles (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As Ted further unravels the document's secrets, he realizes it foretells three additional events—the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son.
When Ted's attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.
This gripping supernatural thriller charts one man's faltering steps towards belief in the ultimate order of the universe even as he finds himself surrounded by mounting chaos. With the reluctant help of Diana Whelan (Rose Byrne) and Abby, the daughter and granddaughter of the now-deceased author of the cryptic prophecies, Ted's increasingly desperate efforts take him on a heart-pounding race against time until he finds himself facing the ultimate disaster—and the ultimate sacrifice.
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne, Ben Mendelsohn, Liam Hemsworth
Director: Alex Proyas
Recommendations: I'm always in for a good entertaining flick with Nicolas Cage.

Review: PUSH (2009)

It was a strange weekend. I went to see PUSH starring Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Camilla Belle, Djimon Hounsou, Maggie Siff, and directed by Paul McGuigan. I have to say that I am on the fence about this movie.
Let me first tell you what I expected to see. I expected PUSH to be a regular sci-fi action movie with cool special effects and an accessible plotline to follow.
What I got was a regular sci-fi action movie with cool special effects and an accessible plotline to follow.
So what was my problem you might ask? Well, this almost never happens to me. It usually goes one way or another. Either the movie is even a bigger stinker than I expected (Transporter 3) or it really exceeds my expectations (Taken).
It is rare that a movie lives up to what I expect of it and when my expectations are already low, it is kind of sad that said movie does nothing more than meet them.
So what is my beef with the movie?
The overall flow of the movie was choppy.
The story had very few highs and very very long lows.
The characters were piecemealed together but you can tell some of the actors tried hard to make this look good. (Trying being the operating word here)
The premise was interesting but the execution was flawed to say the least.
All and all, don't waste your money at the movies for this one. Wait for it on HBO or Showtime and Tivo that puppy. It will make a saturday afternoon go faster.
Actress of the Day: CAMILLA BELLE

CAMILLA BELLE
Next in: Push coming out February 6 2009.
Her Character: Alyssa English
The Buzz: Now famous for dating a Jonas brother, Camilla Belle is in the spotlight in a big way. Her upcoming movie, Push, looks pretty cool so we look forward to see what she can do in it.
Biography:
She was born Camilla Belle Routh in Los Angeles, California. Belle attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School in West Los Angeles and, later, the Marlborough School, an all-girls school in Los Angeles. She is currently a student of Columbia University.
She began appearing in print ads at the age of nine months. Camilla Belle progressed into commercials and began working in movies for network and cable television. Throughout the 1990s, she appeared in several made for television and direct to video movies including Trapped Beneath the Earth, Annie: A Royal Adventure!, Poison Ivy II: Lily and Marshal Law. She had minor roles in several widely-released films including A Little Princess, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Practical Magic, as well as the lead role as Lizzie in Back to the Secret Garden. She was also in a commercial for America's Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) during the late 1990s. The Disney channel original movie, Rip Girls, earned Belle a Young Artist acting nomination.
In 2005, Belle starred in the film The Ballad of Jack and Rose, playing the daughter of Daniel Day-Lewis' character. The film only received a limited theatrical release but Belle was labeled an "impressive newcomer" by film critic James Berardinelli. The film was her first in nearly four years. Her role as Rose also earned her the Gotham Award nomination for the Breakthrough Award. The same year, Belle also had a major role in The Chumscrubber, which received only a brief and limited theatrical release.
Belle was subsequently cast in the lead role in Screen Gems' horror film remake, When a Stranger Calls. The film was released on February 3, 2006 and was considered successful at the United States box office, grossing over $45 million after an opening of over $21 million. A sequel to When A Stranger Calls has been confirmed but according to rumors Camilla Belle has been replaced by Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere. The sequel is expected to be released sometime in 2009 or 2010. Later in 2006, she acted opposite Elisha Cuthbert and Edie Falco in The Quiet.
In the spring of 2006 the Warner Bros. film 10,000 BC, a prehistoric epic directed by Roland Emmerich, began production with Belle as the lead female role. Filmed in New Zealand, South Africa and Namibia, the film was released on March 7, 2008. Also in 2008, Belle starred alongside actors Chris Evans and Djimoun Hounsou in the thriller Push. Recently, Camilla Belle was been cast in a lead role in actor Bruce Willis's directorial debut on the indie film Three Stories About Joan. The psychological drama follows a young woman at three points in her life and the family tragedies that cause her to lose her grip on reality. Shooting was expected to start in early October in Shreveport, Louisiana as a production of Willis Brothers Films.

PUSH Movie Pictures (2009)

Empire got their hands on five pictures from the movie PUSH starring Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Camilla Belle, Djimon Hounsou, Maggie Siff, and directed by Paul McGuigan.
I keep saying it but this is one of the movies I am really looking forward to in 2009. Which is why Push is featured on our must see movies of 2009 list. Plus I'll see anything Djimon Hounsou is in.
You can watch the trailer to make up your own mind.
As for the photos, I think they look ok. It's hard to say because we don't see much, but it's fun to check them out anyway.

PUSH Movie Trailer (2009)
The trailer for the movie PUSH has finally been released. Push spiked up my interest back at Comic Con 2008 when they showed clips of the movie during the panel. I honestly thought the clips looked pretty cool and have been looking forward to seeing more ever since.
Push tells the story of people with telekinectic abilities who must use their powers to escape from the agency. There are three categories of powers: Pushers (they can "push" their thoughts into yours), Watchers (they can see the future), and Movers (they can move objects with their minds).
Push stars Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Camilla Belle, Djimon Hounsou, Maggie Siff, and is directed by Paul McGuigan.
Push will be released on February 6, 2009. Check out the trailer below.
What do you think? Do you think you might enjoy Push? Or does Push look too much like Heroes?

PUSH Movie Poster
Filmonic has just posted the poster for Summit Entertainment's PUSH.
After hearing about the movie at Comic Con, I am looking forward to seeing more about it.
Although I have to say that the poster doesn't look that great. Truth be told, I wouldn't even be curious about the movie if that's all I had seen from it.
Push will be released to theaters on February 6, 2009.
What do you guys think? Do you like the PUSH poster?
PUSH Movie Pictures Comic Con 2008 (Part 2)
I hadn't heard about Summit Entertainment's upcoming movie, PUSH, until yesterday's Comic Con panel, but I have to say it's definitely something to keep an eye out for. Appearing at the panel were director Paul McGuigan, Camilla Belle, Chris Evans, and Djimon Hounsou. Dakota Fanning was supposed to be there, but she was stuck in traffic because of an accident.
Anyway, check out some pictures from the panel below (you can see more pictures here). Don't forget to check back soon for some news and videos.
