Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Synopsis: From the team that brought the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

As you can probably tell, these posters look more like magazine covers than posters, but it's definitely very artsy, I kind of like it.

We had already seen a couple of pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal in full costume, but in this one he seems to be in the middle of an action sequence.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is based on the really cool video game of the same name. The story follows the prince as he teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from destroying the world by releasing a sandstorm. Unfortunately, the prince has been tricked into releasing the Sand of Time, which transformed people from a kingdom into demons. Now in order to save his own kingdom, the prince and the princess must return the Sand of Time to its hourglass.
If the movie is anything like the game, we can expect some pretty great action sequences.

Thanks to The Huffington Post, we get to our second look at a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan (the first look we got were pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal on the set of Prince of Persia back in August 2008).
What could I possibly say except that Jake Gyllenhaal is looking pretty good. Makes you want to hit the gym more often doesn't it?
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is based on the video game of the same name. I have played that game a while ago and although I found it fun, I never finished it. Turns out I enjoy watching my friends play the game better than I like playing it myself. But what I can say is that if they keep some of the awesome stunts from the game, the movie is going to be pretty awesome.

Jake Gyllenhaal PRINCE OF PERSIA Set Pictures
Would you take a look at these photos of Jake Gyllenhaal on the set of his new movie, PRINCE OF PERSIA.
I honestly didn't recognize him at first, I had to do a double take. He has made an incredible body transformation, plus he now has long hair. If you know about the game this movie is based on, then you know how much of a look-alike Jake Gyllenhaal is. It's uncanny.
At least no one can say he didn't work hard for the part because he must have been working out like a beast every day to get in a shape like this. Props to him.
And now, it actually makes me excited to see the movie, which I wasn't really before.
Prince of Persia will be released on May 28, 2010.

Jake Gyllenhaal cast in PRINCE OF PERSIA: The Sands of Time
From The Hollywood Reporter:
Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton will star in "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," mDisney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game. Mike Newell is directing.
In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in 6th century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner and Boaz Yakin wrote the script, which is based on the games created by Jordan Mechner.
Bruckheimer is producing, while Mike Stenson, Chad Oman and Patrick McCormick are executive producing.
Now that's an interesting casting, especially since the movie is called Prince of Persia...
The movie is based on a really great video game of the same name, and if the game is any indication as to what the movie will look like then I'm really excited. But (yes, there is a but) from experience I have learned not to get too excited, because the movies are rarely as good as the game they are based on.
So for now I'll just wait for the trailer.
The movie is set to be released on June 16th 2009.
