Check out the new trailer from THE YOUNG VICTORIA starring Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent, Mark Strong, Thomas Kretschmann, Harriet Walter, and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.
The Young Victoria Synopsis: The Young Victoria is set in the period from 1836, the year before Victoria ascended the throne, to 1840, the year she married Prince Albert, and revises the widely held picture of Queen Victoria as an elderly widow dressed in black. In addition to being a love story and family drama, the film explores the idea of instant celebrity – one minute Victoria is living under virtual house arrest, the next she is the most famous woman in the world.

The Young Victoria is part of the Gala Presentations lineup at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.
This sounds like the Victoria version of the movie Elizabeth. But I do like Emily Blunt and a lot of the cast as well, plus the trailer looks good. I might give it a shot.
In the meantime, if you're at the Toronto Film Festival, you'll have a chance to check it out there in September.

LEGION Movie Trailer (Red Band)

This is the trailer that was shown at Comic Con, and while I wasn't too enthusiastic about it then, seeing it again now actually made me change my mind. I think the fact that I had totally different expectations for the movie was the reason that the trailer didn't excite me that much the first time around.
But you know what, it's pretty bad ass, and as I mentioned before it's worth going to see if only to watch Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael coming to Earth to save humanity.

LEGION Comic Con 2009 Panel
I was really excited to go to the Comic Con 2009 panel for LEGION, especially after seeing the poster for it earlier this week and reading about the story.
To reveal the first footage, director Scott Stewart, Doug Jones, Adrianne Palicki, Tyrese Gibson, and Paul Bettany were all in attendance.
Unfortunately, the footage didn't live up to my expectations at all. The concept sounds way better than the actual footage we saw and what seems to be the story. Instead of being a cool revolutionary Matrix-like movie with Angels fighting each other, like I would have hoped (I know I have high demands...), it pretty much looks like your regular action movie except that this time it's Angels doing the fighting. In fact, director Scott Stewart described it as a movie about "Angels with machine guns."
Now while it might have some entertainment value, I doubt that the movie will blow your mind, although I still want to see it, if only to check out Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael coming to protect the humans.
Here are some of the highlights from the panel:
- Originally Scott Stewart got involved as a writer, which then developed into him directing.
- Adrianne Palicki revealed that her character, Charlie, is pregnant with the future of mankind and does give birth in the movie.
PRIEST Movie Poster with Paul Bettany
Check out the first poster for Paul Bettany's next movie, PRIEST, directed by Scott Stewart, which premiered at Comic Con 2009 during the Legion panel, a new movie also directed by Scott Stewart.
Priest is based on a comic book about a priest who disobeys the church to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece. It should be released in 2010. I don't know about you but I do like the poster, although it seems that Paul Bettany is always involved in films that are somehow related to religion.

Check out the first poster from LEGION featuring Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael that is being shown off at Comic Con this year (thanks to Maximum PC via FirstShowing.net).
Legion is one of the panels I was looking forward to the most this year at Comic Con and now after seeing that poster, I think that it's probably one of the movies I am looking forward to seeing the most. I am expecting the footage to be pretty amazing too. I'll hopefully have more to tell you about Legion after the panel on Friday, July 24.

I hadn't heard of this movie before watching the trailer, but it looks really interesting. Plus I think Paul Bettany is such an amazing actor, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him as Charles Darwin. We already get a preview of what he does with the part and it looks pretty great. Paul Bettany To Star in PRIEST
Paul Bettany is in negotiation to star in PRIEST, a new horror movie from Screen Gems based on a comic book about a priest who disobeys the church to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece.
It's like an epidemic of vampire movies and shows lately. But it's not like I'm going to complain. And Paul Bettany as a priest fighting vampires, I think I can dig it.
