UP (5 out of 5 stars)

Over the weekend I went to see Pixar's new movie UP. And I have to agree with the consensus about the movie, it was quite an amazing ride. I will go as far as saying that Up is the best movie Pixar has ever made.

I was originally excited to see Up, but I didn't expect it to blow me away the way it did. I don't think the trailer does it justice.

I'm sure you've been hearing lots of praise for Up, but what makes the movie so special?

The story.

I repeat it over and over again, if there isn't a good story, you might as well forget it. No amount of visual effects or crazy action sequences will make up for the fact that there isn't a well-developed story and characters worth caring about.

Up had it all, a good story and fully-fleshed out characters. The movie spends just the right amount of time telling us about the main character Mr. Fredricksen, and why we should care about him. We see his life up to the point the movie takes place through a beautiful editing sequence of him and his wife growing old together. This sequence has been mentioned by many people because I think it is one of the most beautiful and touching sequences of the movie, and it provided such a great set up for Up. Through the use of music alone, we feel what the characters are feeling and as a result end up loving the character of Carl Fredricksen.

Partly Cloudy

Check out a new picture from Pixar's new short, PARTLY CLOUDY, which will premiere in front of Pixar's UP, in theaters on May 29, 2009.

We got our first look at Partly Cloudy back in March, and now thanks to AICN, we get a closer look at the character from the short.

This new picture is even more adorable than the first one. Pixar is really the master when it comes to short animated films, and I cannot wait to see this one.

Partly Cloudy Synopsis: Everyone knows that the stork delivers babies, but where do the storks get the babies from? The answer lies up in the stratosphere, where cloud people sculpt babies from clouds and bring them to life. Gus, a lonely and insecure grey cloud, is a master at creating "dangerous" babies. Crocodiles, porcupines, rams and more–Gus's beloved creations are works of art, but more than a handful for his loyal delivery stork partner, Peck. As Gus's creations become more and more rambunctious, Peck's job gets harder and harder. How will Peck manage to handle both his hazardous cargo and his friend's fiery temperament?

Pixar Partly Cloudy

Check out the first picture from Pixar's new short, PARTLY CLOUDY that AWN got their hands on.

Partly Cloudy will premiere in front of Up, which comes out to theaters on May 29, 2009.

As a huge fan of Pixar and their shorts, I cannot wait to see Partly Cloudy (and Up of course), and that picture looks so adorable. That's one more reason to see Up in theaters.

Partly Cloudy is directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Kevin Reher.

In addition, /Film received the official plot synopsis. You can read it below.
