In saner moments everyone knows the vile apartheid regime is doomed but will the transition to democracy be peaceful or bloody? Working for P.W. Botha as a somewhat Machiavellian Head of Intelligence, Doctor Neil Barnard opens furtive talks with Nelson Mandela who is still in prison. But lesser known are the secret talks that take place in the unlikely setting of a rural English manor house, arranged by a British businessman and sponsored by a mining company seeking to secure its own future in South Africa. Both sides have everything to win or to lose, including their own lives. The stakes are immense, the secrecy imperative.

But while influential Afrikaners sit down face to face with their fiercest enemies from the ANC, led by future President Thabo Mbeki, Botha learns of the UK talks. If the demise of apartheid is inevitable he intends to control the endgame by employing the tactics of divide and rule. Dr. Barnard must wring as many concessions out of Mandela as he can whilst instructing the Afrikaners to do the same with the ANC in the UK - then play one against the other.

Against all the odds, through volatile discussion, intrigue and breakthroughs, they achieve the unimaginable - a precious arena of frail trust between the two warring parties.

In the current climate of the expression "war on terror," this inspiring film has never had more relevance.

Endgame will be released to theaters November November 6, 2009 (NY).

The Young Victoria Synopsis: The Young Victoria is set in the period from 1836, the year before Victoria ascended the throne, to 1840, the year she married Prince Albert, and revises the widely held picture of Queen Victoria as an elderly widow dressed in black. In addition to being a love story and family drama, the film explores the idea of instant celebrity – one minute Victoria is living under virtual house arrest, the next she is the most famous woman in the world.

KICK-ASS New Movie Pictures

Check out some new pictures from KICK-ASS starring Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, Nicolas Cage, Mark Strong, Clark Duke, and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

If you remember, I was really excited about the footage shown at Comic Con this year, and the even more exciting news is that Lionsgate has picked up Kick-Ass for distribution sometimes in 2010.

And so I thought it would be a good time to share some new pictures. In the one above you can see Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski (center), surrounded by Clark Duke as Marty (right) and Evan Peters (left), who have pretty funny scenes together. Below you can see Aaron Johnson in his superhero costume, as well as Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl.

Kick-Ass Synopsis: KICK-ASS tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

The Young Victoria is part of the Gala Presentations lineup at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

This sounds like the Victoria version of the movie Elizabeth. But I do like Emily Blunt and a lot of the cast as well, plus the trailer looks good. I might give it a shot.

In the meantime, if you're at the Toronto Film Festival, you'll have a chance to check it out there in September.

Oh come on this is so awesome! I absolutely love it! Guy Ritchie brought it. After watching the trailer I cannot wait for November. It's clear that Robert Downey Jr. is once again giving us a brilliant performance and it looks like Jude Law is matching him.

Vanessa Redgrave Cast in Ridley Scott's ROBIN HOOD

Vanessa Redgrave was cast in Ridley Scott's untitiled ROBIN HOOD film as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, the mother of King john.

Robin Hood also stars Russell Crowe as Robin Hood, Cate Blanchett, as Lady Marion, Mark Strong as King John's henchman Sir Godfrey, Scott Grimes as Will Scarlet, Kevin Durand as Little John, and Alan Doyle as Allan a Dayle.

The movie will follow Robin Hood from the days he spent in King Richard's army to his becoming an outlaw and creating his band of Merry Men.
