GOSSIP GIRL's Blake Lively Cast in GREEN LANTERN

Blake Lively has been cast as the female lead for the new Warner Bros.' "GREEN LANTERN" starring Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. Lively will play Carol Ferris, the love interest to Hal Jordan (Reynolds), who becomes the Green Lantern.
According to Heat Vision, Warner Brothers picked Lively because they were impressed with her work in "The Town," its adaptation of the gritty Chuck Hogan novel directed by Ben Affleck now in post-production.
Green Lantern is the story of Hal Jordan, a man granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. Green Lantern is set to be released June 17th 2011.

Ryan Reynolds Cast as the GREEN LANTERN

It's official, Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the GREEN LANTERN.
Now I don't know much about the comic book so I can talk about that much, and I really love Ryan Reynolds so nothing against him, but I have to ask: could they really not find anybody else to play another superhero on screen? Ryan Reynolds was already in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and will also star in the new Deadpool movie (although still in development, but slated for 2011) as the main character obviously. So does it really make sense to associate him with yet another comic book character?
Is there really no other actor out there that could play the part? And I'm not talking about all the familiar faces out there, I want some new blood. Someone that you can associate with the character without thinking "oh yeah, that's so and so from this and that movie."
