New DVD Releases for the Week of June 9 2009
Here is a list of the new DVD Releases for the week of June 9 2009 (for TV on DVD releases head over to Daemon's TV):

Gran Torino
Synopsis: Clint Eastwood stars in "Gran Torino," marking his first film role since his OscarĀ®-winning "Million Dollar Baby." Eastwood plays retired auto worker Walt Kowalski, an iron-willed veteran living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices. The people he once called his neighbors have all moved or passed away, replaced by Hmong immigrants, from Southeast Asia, he despises. Resentful of virtually everything and everyone he sees, Walt is just waiting out the rest of his life... until the night his teenage neighbor Thao tries to steal his prized '72 Gran Torino, under pressure from Hmong gang-bangers. But Walt stands in the way of both the heist and the gang, making him the reluctant hero of the neighborhood -- especially to Thao's mother and older sister, Sue, who insist that Thao work for Walt as a way to make amends. Though he initially wants nothing to do with these people, Walt eventually gives in and puts the boy to work, setting into motion an unlikely friendship that will change both their lives.

Movies Coming Out This Week January 9 2009
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday, ? Here is a list with our recommendations (which you can take or leave, it's up to you).

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES
Bride Wars

While I have seen the trailer so many times that I am tired of it, I do think Bride Wars could be a fun movie to check out for some entertainment after a long week.
Synopsis: Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are best friends who since childhood have planned every detail of their respective weddings. At the top of their bridal "must have" list: a ceremony at New York's ultimate bridal destination, the Plaza Hotel.
Now, at age 26, they're both about to get married, they're about to realize their dreams; and they're about to live happily ever after.
Or maybe not...
When a clerical error causes a clash in wedding dates - they're now to be married on the same date! - Liv, Emma and their lifelong friendship are put to the ultimate test. Liv, a successful lawyer who is used to getting what she wants, including the perfect job and the perfect man, won't settle for anything less than the perfect wedding she has dreaming of for years. Emma, a schoolteacher who has always been good at taking care of others, but not so much in looking after herself, discovers her inner Bridezilla and comes out swinging when her own dream wedding is imperiled.
Now, the two best friends who'd do anything for each other, find themselves in a no-holds-barred, take no-prisoners struggle that threatens to erupt into all-out war.
Movies Coming Out This Week December 12 2008
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday December 12 2008? Here is a list with our recommendations (which you can take or leave, it's up to you).

DEFINITELY WATCH AT THE MOVIES

I have already purchased my tickets and can't wait to see Keanu Reeves as Klaatu in this Hollywood blockbuster remake.
Synopsis::Aliens land on Earth with a message for all humans: live in peace or be destroyed.

I am not a huge fan of Clint Eastwood but I always give him the benefit of the doubt as he tends to do smart films, hence I intend to watch this at the movies.
Synopsis::Walt Kowalski is a widower, grumpy, tough-minded, borderline-hateful, unhappy old man who can't get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1973 Gran Torino he keeps in cherry condition. When his neighbor Tao, a young Hmong teenager, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Tao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them form the gangs that foul their neighborhood.
HELL WILL FREEZE FIRST

I went to see Four Christmases against my will so I think I fulfilled my quota for dumb christmas movies for the year 2008.
Synopsis::It's Christmas time and the far-flung members of the Rodriguez family are converging at their parents' home in Chicago to celebrate the season and rejoice in their youngest brother's safe return from combat overseas. For Jesse, coming home has rekindled feelings for an old flame, although she can't seem to forgive him for leaving. His older sister Roxanna, a struggling actress, has been chasing her Hollywood dreams for years with little to show for it. And much to the dismay of their mother Anna, eldest brother Mauricio brings home a high-powered executive wife who would rather raise capital than a child. In the course of one eventful week, traditions will be celebrated, secrets revealed and major life decisions made. It all begins when Anna announces to her children she is divorcing their father Eduardo. The shock waves from this familial upheaval prompt Roxanna, Mauricio and Jesse, each in their own way, to reevaluate the past and rethink the future. But when the Rodriguezes learn that one of their own is facing a true crisis, they instinctively pull together: Old resentments are forgotten, familial bonds are re-affirmed and the healing power of laughter works its magic as the family discovers they are much stronger than they ever realized.
Clint Eastwood GRAN TORINO Trailer

Watch the trailer for GRAN TORINO, Clint Eastwood's new movie which he directed and starred in (seriously when does he have time to do all of this?) below.
I didn't grow up watching Clint Eastwood's films, but I have come to love him as a director. So if you put the two of them together, the result might be a pretty nice movie. So far I think the trailer looks good. There might even have been tears in my eyes at some point (I'm such a sucker for emotional trailers).
But I'll let you make your own opinion? What do you think of the trailer for Gran Torino?
Gran Torino comes out on December 17, 2008.
