PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF (2 out of 5 stars)
PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF was just released yesterday and I had an opportunity to go and see what the fuss was all about.
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is the story of a young high school kid, Percy Jackson ( Logan Lerman), who lives with his mom, Jessie (Catherine Keener), and step dad in a low income neighborhood. Percy also has a good friend, Grover (Brandon T. Jackson), who is his sidekick. It is during a trip at the museum that Percy discovers that he is a demi-god, half man and half god as his mother had an affair with a god, Poseidon (Kevin McKidd). Percy also finds out that Zeus (Sean Bean) suspects him of having stolen the Lightning Bolt and has set a deadline for Percy to return it. [...]

Twentieth Century Fox has released some great new photos from PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF which stars Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Rosario Dawson, Catherine Keener, Kevin McKidd, Steve Coogan, and is directed by Chris Columbus.
These photos get here right in time for the release of the movie this Friday, February 12, 2010. I have to admit that I am kind of looking forward to it. Having read all five books, it's going to be interesting to see how the adaptation translates to the screen.

I haven't watched all eight clips because I want to keep the surprise for when I actually go see the movie, but I did watch a little bit of them and as someone who has read the books, I think the movie looks pretty good.

Our friend Kristen from our sister site Daemon's Books had the opportunity to attend a panel interview of the cast of PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF. The panel featured Logan Lerman (Percy), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth), Brandon T. Jackson (Grover), and Jake Abel (Luke).

Better know as Detective Stella Bonasera in CSI NY, it is a treat to see Melina Kanakaredes appear in a major movie. I think she is a great actress and I have a feeling that she will bring a level of authenticity to the role that will hopefully open up more doors for her down the line.
