Zac Efron Not Good Enough for ME AND ORSON WELLES?

Zac Efron

Zac Efron doesn’t think he was good enough for Me and Orson Welles.
The 22-year-old actor – who rose to fame after starring in Disney’s High School Musical movies – felt he was a risky choice of actor because there are a number of young stars who could have played the part of teenage student Richard Samuels much better than him. He said: “I think it was a risk, you know? I wasn’t the easiest choice. I think there’s better actors out there they could have gone with.”

In the movie, Zac Efron’s plays a teenage student who, by luck, gets to work with a young Orson Welles and grows close to production assistant Sonja Jones, played by Claire Danes.

But Zac Efron thought he was the victim of a prank when he was first asked to audition for the role. He explained: “My manager told me Richard Linklater had a script he’d like me to read, and I was like, ‘Ha ha, you’re hilarious’.

“Working on the film was a bit scary. All I could think was, ‘Man, I’m gonna disappoint Ric’. He was taking a shot with me, and I refuse to be the one who’s going to screw it up, the one who’s gonna let him down. So I was just honored he embarked on this journey with me.”
