New DVD Releases for the Week of September 15 2009

Here is a list of the new DVD Releases for the week of September 15 2009, as well as my intentions to buy, rent, watch on TV, or skip (for TV on DVD releases head over to Daemon's TV):

Must Rent

easy-virtue

Easy Virtue

Synopsis: An adaptation of the Noel Coward play in which an American divorcee, Larita Huntington (Biel), travels to the South of France and marries young wealthy Englishman John Whittaker, played by Ben Barnes, on the spur of the moment. The couple return to England to face his unapproving family, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Whittaker.

Cast: Jessica Biel, Colin Firth, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Barnes

Director: Stephan Elliott

Recommendations: The trailer for this looked fun and since I missed it in theaters, it's definitely going into my Netflix list.

Buy it: EASY VIRTUE on Amazon (also available on Blu-ray)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Synopsis: Leading up to the events of "X-Men," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Lynn Collins, Ryan Reynolds, will.i.am, Taylor Kitsch, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney, Kevin Durand

Director: Gavin Hood

Recommendations: Wolverine definitely wasn't as good as it could have been, but it was entertaining none the less. There were some pretty great action sequences (especially at the beginning), which makes this movie a decent rental.

Buy it: X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE on Amazon (also available on Blu-ray)

Hell Will Freeze First

Grace

Synopsis: After losing her unborn child, Madeline Matheson insists on carrying the baby to term. Following the delivery, the child miraculously returns to life, but when the baby develops a desperate appetite for human blood, Madeline is faced with a mother's ultimate decision.

Cast: Jordan Ladd, Samantha Ferris, Gabrielle Rose, Malcom Stewart, Stephen Park, Serge Houde

Director: Paul Solet

Recommendations: Since this is a horror film, I'm definitely going to skip it. However, Grace has been getting raving reviews, so if you enjoy this type of movie, then you should definitely give it a shot.

Buy it: GRACE on Amazon (also available on Blu-ray)
