A PROPHET (Un Prophète) Movie Trailer

A Prophet (Un Prophète) was in Cannes this year and won the Grand Prix. It also received some really good reviews and made me quite excited to see what the movie is all about.

Unfortunately, I didn't really like Jacques Audiard's previous movie Sur mes lèvres, but I did love Vénus beauté for which he was a writer. So I guess we'll find out what the verdict for this one is.

A Prophet will be released to theaters in France on August 26, 2009. No US release date as of yet. Watch the trailer below.

A Prophet Synopsis: Condemned to six years in prison, Malik El Djebena cannot read nor write. Arriving at the jail entirely alone, he appears younger and more fragile than the other convicts. He is 19 years old. Cornered by the leader of the Corsican gang who rules the prison, he is given a number of "missions" to carry out, toughening him up and gaining the gang leader's confidence in the process.
But Malik is brave and a fast learner, daring to secretly develop his own plans...
