As a fan, I'm look at the new film with apprehension and skepticism. Abrams has completely thrown away any pretense of tyring to stay true to the original asthetics. But... I have not seen the movie yet. Despite my apprehension, I will try to keep an open mind.

Hi Jessie,

No, I wasn't living under a rock, because I had actually heard of Star Trek, but I was never interested in seeing any of them... until now!

So even if some of the Star Trek fans decide not to go and see the new movie, I think JJ Abrams is going to get a lot of new people to go and see the movie.

First off in the past 42 years there have been 5 Star Trek related series and about 10 feature length films and you've never seen ANY of them? Do you live under a rock?
On the new movie, I have a feeling that real fans of Star Trek will stay away once they see the trailers. Abrams is trying to revive the original series characters but using technology that even the Next Generation series set 200 years later than the original doesn't have (the nacelles, to be precise)
